I do love having a food storage and it has really
helped us it times of need. So, I was excited to
go to a Relief Society activity where I met Shandra
Madsen (Sorry if I spelled your name wrong!) the
creator of Deals to Meals. She finds grocery
shopping deals for you so you dont have to
and she advises to add to your food storage in
meals, one at a time.
So, think of a meal your family loves.
Pizza? Fajitas? Chili? Hawaiian Haystacks?
Now, think about all the things that you would need
to prepare the dish you like.
If you chose Chili, then you would buy beans (canned
or dried) , hamburger, and whatever seasonings you like
to put in it. We like taco seasoning and sometimes we
like to put corn in it. Don't forget the cornbread
ingredients you would need. Cornmeal, flour,
baking powder, salt, ....you get the idea.
You would just focus on getting those ingredients
until you had a years worth and then work
toward your next meal. Like pancakes.
The cool thing about Deals to Meals is that
the bargain shopping is already done. You just
need to look at the list that is provided for the
things you need at the best prices. She compares prices
with Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco and the
LDS Cannery. And she's got some of the
yummiest recipe's out there. Check out their blog
HERE or you can just click on the Deals to Meals
button on my side bar.
Let me know what you think!
