For those of you who dont, let me explain.
When we were little, we played Dobby Dobby.
(I dont know who taught us, probably my older
brother and sisters. And I dont remember if I
actually played it or just laughed at it.)
Take your pointer finger from each hand
and make them go up and down and make them talk
to eachother.
"Hi Dobby Dobby." one would say.
"Hi Dobby Dobby." the other would say.
"Do you want to play Dobby Dobby?"
"Yes, Dobby Dobby!"
Then they would march off and play together...
and we would laugh because it was so silly.
Well, in my family "Dobby Dobby" has become
a new and improved game.
Instead of playing with their fingers, they have
Whole Cloves (you know, the spice?), for instance,
or popsicle sticks, markers, or faces drawn on paper.
These little "guys" have homes and family members
and everything. The cloves have homes drawn on
napkins with a living room, bedrooms, kitchen,
...you name it.
The newest craze are .25 cent vending machine rubber
animal erasers. Today I found dirt beds and grass beds
on a shelf in Lill's and D's room just for them.
Any money they can find they are counting up to 25
cents to trade me for a quarter and then begging me
to take them to All a Dollar for these little guys.
And, how can they play without inspiring E.
However, E (2 years) calls his "little guys" his babies.

(For E, his "little guys" are math manipulatives)
He wakes and goes to sleep asking for his babies.
He literally can't stand it when he cant find them
or when one is missing. Believe it or not he
KNOWS when one is missing.
It's very amusing to watch. He watches over them
like a little daddy!
Who needs Polley Pockets when you can find fun
things to play with anywhere....
like your spice cupboard or in your
math manipulatives! :)

He is so cute. His face is so adorable, you can tell he loves those little guys. See...children don't need expensive toys, just fun ideas. Way to go!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha. I do remember Dobby Dobby. Good friends of my Mom years ago :)
ReplyDeleteHow've they been?
Love you Kelly!!
